Biography


Lyric Coloratura Soprano, Danielle Vita, is excited to be spending june and august of 2012 performing in two concert series in Hong Kong, China. The concert series, Songs of Desire, will be featuring music from composers Edvarg Grieg, George Rochberg, Richard Strauss, and Aaron Copland, to name a few.

Ms. Vita recently completed a Young Artist Residency with New York Lyric Opera and Underworld Productions Opera Ensemble. Recently, she was honored to be a finalist in both the Musician's Club of New York Olga Koussevitzky Young Artist awards and the Classical Singer Magazine Competition.

A Lover of new music, Ms Vita made her Carnegie Hall debut as a soprano soloist in the world premiere of William Anderson's, "The Death of Virgil," in a concert of new music by the members of the New Jersey Composers Alliance in December of 2005. In June of 2010, Ms. Vita sang the title role in the premiere of Michael Dutka's opera, The Crowded House, with Underworld Productions Opera Ensemble and the New York Concert Artists Woodwind Quintet.
Ms. Vita had the honor of performing the aria and quartet from Beethoven’s Fidelio with internationally acclaimed soprano Carol Yahr and baritone Kerry Henderson, under the baton of former conductor of the Sydney Opera House, maestro Christopher Lyndon Gee, with the Adelphi Symphony Orchestra.

Opera highlights include Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Frasquita (Carmen), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Amour (Pygmalion), Sister Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Madame Lidoine (The Dialogues of the Carmelites), Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro), and High Priestess (Aida), She has appeared with the Opera Company of Brooklyn, Underworld Productions Opera Ensemble, Amici Opera Company, Adelphi Symphony Orchestra, Queens Opera Association, Opera on Tap/Rush Foundation, and New York Opera Forum, among others.

Ms. Vita began her musical studies at the age of five studying piano, and later studying violin. She still enjoys a career as a violinist as well, performing in various orchestras and string quartets in the New York and Hong Kong areas.

A passionate advocate for music education, Ms. Vita instructs various children's orchestras and choirs and maintains a private voice and violin studio.

Danielle Vita was born and raised in New York City. She holds a Masters of Music Degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
